4 Iconic Seiko Watches

A watch collection is only complete with the presence of a Seiko watch. This beloved watch brand is so revered and held with affection because of its brand value and perks. Seiko has always come with a good price, great quality, and a tradition of the watch industry’s most prestigious and finest engineering.

Seiko

What are the most iconic watches in the history of Seiko? There are four, and some of them are the Seiko Spacewalk SPS005, the Seiko Lord Marvel 5740-8000, and the Seiko SARB033. All of them are unique and wonderful watches with their equivalent perks and downsides.

Seiko Spacewalk SPS005

The Seiko Spacewalk SPS005, for starters, is too cool to avoid, and its Spring Drive is one of its most memorable models. The $28,000 watch was introduced to commemorate that it went to space on a Russian Soyuz mission in 2008. In addition, the Seiko Spacewalk SPS005 only had 100 limited units made; they were also notoriously hard to sell when they were first released.

This special watch has a chronograph at work here, along with a GMT. Meanwhile, what lies at the heart of the matter is Spring Drive. If you have never experienced Seiko’s special Spring Drive, it is innovative, show-stopping, and novel in terms of the way the hand glides around the dial.

There are plenty of watches to consider with this technology (the SBDB015 is a great alternative in the same bullhead vein), but the Spacewalk is unique if you can afford it.

Seiko SARB033

The Seiko SARB033 comes from a certain period. During this period, notably, it was when Seiko made watches without batching them into collections, and a watch like the SARB was downright cheap, reliable, and good-looking. As a result, the Seiko SARB033 is a dressy watch with a black dial (other variants were available), and it is quite classically attractive with surprisingly good finishing.

The Seiko SARB033 comes and measures 38mm. Moreover, this 38mm watch has an unusually good (for Seiko) bracelet and boxes above its weight class due to its Grand Seiko looks.

Another suggestion for you to try from Seiko is the prized Seiko Astron, the world’s first GPS solar watch.

Seiko Lord Marvel 5740-8000

The Seiko Lord Marvel 5740-8000 watch that Seiko used to debut its 36,000vph movement in 1967. It was after just one year following Girard-Perregaux made history with its version. Its “Hi-Beat” movement has been a cornerstone of Seiko/Grand Seiko ever since. Compared to what it looks like at first look, it is a fine dressy watch worth owning.

Seiko 7A28-7090 Yacht Timer

Lastly, we have the Seiko 7A28-7090 Yacht Timer. It fits perfectly with other chronograph watches and is one of the best-looking chronographs ever made. When it first came out in 1982, it was all the rage, and it was considered a highlight of the 7A28 movement in watch technology. In addition, Seiko was one of the first watch brands to market with a quartz clock.

Wrapping Up

In its rich history, Seiko has released plenty of great watches. Here are some of them and why we think they’re worthy of being featured.
